All the anti Christian hatred coming from the left kinda proves their point though. Sure, it's not as aggressive as religious persecution in other countries, and other eras, but you can't deny that hatred of Christians isn't a big problem on the left, and widely accepted as perfectly fine by basically everyone on the left. Hate them if you want, I don't care, but you don't get to simultaneously hate them and also say they have a persecution complex as though it's completely unfounded. Those 2 things are directly contradictory.

@Gfish17 if the only way to get guns is illegally, the only people who have guns are going to be criminals. I really don't understand what part of this is hard to understand. I'm pretty sure I could explain it to a border collie.

Jesus Christ every single person who just replied to me is accidentally proving me right. WTF, you weirdos have absolutely zero self awareness. If you're saying they should be persecuted, fine, have that opinion, not my problem, but you don't get to justify them being persecuted and then say they have a persecution complex. That's the definition of gas lighting, that's probably the most clear example I could possibly give if I was trying to use an example to explain to someone what the term means.

@_chew_ and I wouldn't have a major objection if that were your position, but that's not the position of the majority of the left, most people on the left are perfectly fine or even encouraging towards vicious attacks towards Christians and Christianity. And there's a laughably obvious double standard with their blind defense of Islam, if someone were to make the exact same generalizations about Islam, which are actually far more accurate in that instance, most people on the left lose their shit and start making accusations or racism or Islamaphobia.

@debrac3391 what hypocrisy are you talking about coming from me? And what faith? I'm an atheist, I just see the far left becoming even more religious than the religious people they hate. It's weird. And at least Christian fundies have some kind of moral foundation, you don't have to agree with all their morals, I don't, but it's the basis of their beliefs. Leftist fundies only care about self righteousness and materialism. You're not compatible with any kind of society other than authoritarianism of your specific worldview. You cannot coincide with people who value liberty, not peacefully at least.

Then it's oppression of the worst magnitude, because you can use it to try and leverage political power through intimidation. Honestly I think leftism is far more insane than the bible. And the bible talks about talking snakes and giant dudes, and 700 year old dudes, and magic babies. But that's far more conceivable that the idiotic nonsense the leftist cult believes in.

neil stoner I don't think many people even actually do that anymore, and even to those people who do, so what? I think it's pretty weird too, I wouldn't buy a car without driving it first, but I still don't really care, and if you ask me leftists tend to be a lot more over the top with thinking you can just hump everything that moves without any moral or emotional implications whatsoever. And then they all wonder why they have 17 psychological disorders and are completely dysfunctional basket cases. If you ask me, the more conservative approach to the sanctity of sex is a lot closer to healthy than the leftist approach.

@Gfish17 yea banning guns would be counter productive too, look at Chicago. Some of the most strict gun laws in the country and one of the highest rates of gun violence.

@Gfish17 gun violence will always exist, and it gets even worse with "bans" on guns. That's why mass shootings almost always happen in "gun free" zones like schools or churches, places where people can't or don't typically carry. Criminals don't care about gun laws, they're criminals. Taking away law abiding citizens rights to own defense only puts a target on their back for people who don't care about the law.

That doesn't mean I agree with any other group of people about anything, other than other people who don't believe in god or religion. I would say every leftist that thinks atheists have to be leftists is doing a terrible job, that's the exact same gatekeeper mentality that religions tend to have. Go ahead, since you obviously know so much about this, you wouldn't be so passionate about something you don't know about, would you? Top 1%, top 10%, whatever bracket you think it is that isn't paying "their fair share", name it and then give me an estimate of the taxes they currently pay.

Yea it sounds pretty crazy now, but a large percentage of what the left actually advocates for now would have been considered crazy just a few years ago, and even leftists would mock people who even suggested it. And I'm also sure a considerable amount of the people in these comments would actually support the bible being banned.

@GalacticNovaOverworld that's a charitable take on it. And maybe I was taking the less charitable take on it. It depends on whether they meant they would be for the forced banning or destruction of the bible, or if they're just in support of people just not caring about the bible anymore and it sort of being "cancelled" by the court of public opinion.
