@mangosaurusrex3416 they should still be in prison if they're a danger to society. That's what prison is supposed to be for.

I agree, and this is a pretty new position for me, I've always been more pro gun than anti, but I used to think convicted felons should be one exception. But I've changed my mind on that too, if someone has served their time, they should have the same rights as any other citizen, and if this results in more crimes, then the problem is with the judicial system, not the guns. In many cases felons need self defense even more than most other people, since they're often stuck in a not so mild situation upon release from prison.

I don't have a problem with this. If someone commits a crime and serves their time, they should have their full rights restored. If they commit another violent crime, then the problem is with the judicial system, not the tool that they used.

@morenitomoreno1282 yes. If there's significant danger of repeat offense, they shouldn't be released from prison in the first place. If this is a problem, then the problem is with the judicial system, not the firearm.

@morenitomoreno1282 I don't think the quantity or percentage of gun ownership is the main issue, but a society where people are allowed the right to defend themselves is absolutely a safer society. Crime in the US has consistently risen over the last several decades, and gun restrictions have consistently increased over that same span.

@dustinsindledecker154 so someone who got into a gang at a young age and went to prison, got reformed and is trying to live a straight life when he gets out but has no other option than to go right back to the same area of the gang he was involved in shouldn't have the right to defend himself?
