@dbarker7794 people aren't "catching a break", they're getting a handout at the expense of people who did nothing wrong.

I don't have any debt, but I'm pretty poor. I think I'll just take out a massive loan, by some cool shit, then call it a student debt and demand that someone else pay for it. Yea. I'm super progressive.
2
Why does the working class need a handout? They work.
2
Yes, it probably will. Practically every Republican voter is against it and a significant portion of Democrat voters are, because it's a terrible idea, in every single way. Only a tiny minority of progressive lunatics support this.
1
@mcdallywacker8977 it won't, they're just gonna pay off the debts and continue to make bad decisions.
1
@dariusblack2997 this hurts poor and working class people. The only people it helps is upper middle class idiots who made a stupid decision.
1
@MegaKapo12 it's estimated that the average family will pay an extra $2500 in taxes per year for the next 10 years.
1
@darkpark6531 yea except everyone goes to primary school, you don't have to go to college. There's a reason it costs money out of pocket, or through a loan or a grant, because it's elective schooling. But good job not understanding anything. If you were capable of understanding anything, you wouldn't be a leftist.
1
@Kryptic1046 taking less money from someone's taxes isn't a handout.
1
@Kryptic1046 yea the difference is money spent on military actually does something, and corporations actually make a product and employ people. Leftists are just leeches, and penny spent on you is a penny wasted, down the drain, gone forever.
1
@dariusblack2997 how does this help the lower class? They didn't go to college. How does it help the working class, blue collar jobs? They didn't go to college either. This primarily helps white liberals from upper class homes, and it only helps them in the immediate, in the long run this hurts all of us, because they're not going to do anything smart with the money they're being given. They've already proven they're bad with money and they don't have any valuable skills for the labor market, that's why they have debt.
1
@Kryptic1046 difference in bankruptcy is that the bank can seize the assets you claim, such as your house, or a car, when it comes to student debt, there's no asset to seize because you owe money for a piece of paper that's completely useless, because you're supposed to be able to use that piece of paper to find a high paying job. That was the whole point of the loan. It was an investment, in yourself, and if you can't pay it back, then you made a poor investment. Period.
1
@therealivydawg yea we already have that, it's called primary school. If you want more education than that, that's fine, but it costs money, and if someone loans you money, you owe that money back. This isn't a difficult concept. Obviously your education was a dud, otherwise you would understand this.
1
@amandlockhart5844 the government made businesses shut down, nobody made anyone take out a student loan.
1
@sndspderbytes because you've already wasted money on stupid shit is not a valid reason to waste more money on stupid shit. And you're accidentally proving why bailing out stupid people is a bad idea.
1
@dariusblack2997 I'm not the one begging for a free handout, my education and income is just fine.
1
@screenarts lmao, you assert that I'm miserable while you're crying about how people should be given free handouts, I'm saying I'm fine and everyone else can be fine, get your thumb out of your ass and your hand moving towards something more productive than waiting for free money. Who sounds miserable to you?
1
Good. Even if you agree with debt forgiveness in principle, Biden didn't have the authority to just wave a magic wand and do it, (even though apparently he does), but we have to stop just letting presidents order things by decree and pretending like it's completely fine because we like the thing, this is a dangerous precedent. And that goes for Biden, Trump, and Obama, can anyone honestly see a reasonable scenario where presidents just stop using executive order in the ways the last 3 have? Because chances are it's only going to get worse. As long as people keep cheering for it, there's virtually zero chance it's ever going to stop or even slow down, and what we're going to be left with is a dictator and not a President.
