This is directly contradictory to virtually every other progressive position, all of your talking points are about things that people "can't" do, or "don't have access to" but it's always something they can do or access, they just need more money to do it. Well a lot of those same people can't afford to take time off of work to get tested once a week.

Saying this isn't a mandate is like saying that paying taxes is optional. You just have the other option of being audited and facing legal penalties.
7
@JaminSpace1 what if you're wrong about the vaccine though, and the "crazy conspiracy theorists" are right? We still don't know about any potential long term effects.
6
Seriously, by his logic in this video, no laws are actually laws. You just have the option of breaking the law and going to jail.

I think like many things, there's not a one size fits all answer to that. Those are definitely valid points. My ex got a flu shot every year, but she was also a nurse, I've never gotten one as an adult. Not anti-vaxx or anything, I just never really thought it that necessary, if I worked around kids or sick people, or was frequently in any other situation where I was at risk, I probably would. But I'm in my 30s, relatively healthy although I'm certainly not fit, but no major health issues or major risk categories. I think that's where some of the so called "anti vaxx" people when it comes to covid are coming from. The media and the left going absolutely bat shit insane over it doesn't help the matter. Not all of them are basement dwelling Qanon nutters. Some people have valid concerns or reasons they just don't think it's necessary

@Somethindrkside why is it stupid? Not sure if you're paying attention, but the conspiracy theorists actually have a higher batting average than the experts when it comes to covid.
4
"We're not forcing you to the gulag. But if you don't go, we'll shoot you." -Next year, probably.
4
@cosmosofinfinity if you put mustard on it, it's a hot dog, if you put hot sauce on it, it's a taco, and if you put ketchup on it, get the hell out of America you goddamn commie.
4
Funny how that's a valid counter argument to unconstitutional authoritarian edicts, but not for people thinking they should get $15/hr to flip burgers.
3
@zkapsh so vaccinated people shouldn't be worried about unvaccinated people then.
3
Once they've completely eroded all of our rights, they won't care about covid anymore.
3
@nonenone6704 how did that work out in 2020?
2
@matthewwelsh294 not as much of an idiot as someone that's still repeating the horse dewormer nonsense.
2
@zkapsh right, that's why Israel is doing so great. Oh wait....
2
@abc1234567a1 leftists just can't seem to understand that. Funny how they're all about personal choice and freedom, as long as people choose the things they want them to choose. Authoritarian psychopaths. These people can never have power, or we're all doomed, including them. They're too stupid to understand that their ideas would be the end of all of us.
2
Right, that's like holding a gun to someone's head and saying "I'm not mandating that you give me all your money, but I'll shoot you if you don't".
2
@JaminSpace1 I have the vaccine. I still don't think it's right for the government to coerce people this way.
1
@Somethindrkside but the left's entire worldview is built on conspiracy theories. You just don't think it's a conspiracy theory if you think it's true. Even though every conspiracy theorist thinks their favorite theory is true. You just lack the self awareness to understand the difference.
1
@Somethindrkside Russian collusion, systemic racism, invisible fascists lurking in the shadows, every single fake news hoax about Trump, the rich don't pay any taxes, police targeting minorities.
1
@Somethindrkside and those are just the big ones. Your entire worldview is shaped by conspiratorial thinking, you selectively believe everything left wing media says that affirms your worldview, no matter how many times they lie to you, and anything that goes against that even slightly is dismissed as "fake news" or "propaganda".
1
@Somethindrkside but the police brutality narrative, and the greater narrative of systemic racism is not supported by facts. It's debunked, thoroughly, by facts. And it would require a quite large amount of people to carry out, and cover up, if ALL of the statistical data were incorrect. That's a conspiracy theory, little fella.
1
@Somethindrkside oh yea oh yea, the gender pay gap🤣🤣🤣 I forgot about that one.
1
@Somethindrkside wow, talk about splitting hairs, you don't think police brutality is a big part of the systemic racism issue? And I love how the best example you have is a policy that's been ended. Hmmm, it's almost like the "system" is actively set up to avoid and correct for racism.
1
@Somethindrkside people make different choices and therefore have different outcomes. If you look at racial disparity and automatically assume that the cause must be racism, it might just be because you're a racist.
1
@Somethindrkside specifically towards minorities? In the 60s. There's been bad policies but we've actively sought to avoid those and get rid of them when they're shown to have negative results. And just because stop and frisk disproportionately effected minorities doesn't mean that was it's intention. It was just a bad policy that was left open to be abused in that way.
1
@Somethindrkside "systemic racism" is a law saying "blacks aren't allowed to do (x)". We abolished all of that with the civil rights act. Doesn't mean racism doesn't still exist, as long as leftism exists, racism will exist. But racism put into the law (the "system") does not exist.
1
@Somethindrkside a person or people being racist isn't systemic racism. That's a person or people being racist. Systemic racism is a racist system. Do you need me to repeat this? I really don't understand what part is the hard part to understand.
1
@nonenone6704 people got their free money. Did they make good with it? Did they make investments, pay off debts, use it to better their future? Or did they just buy a new Xbox and eat Cheetos all year? Because the effects we're seeing now point in one direction....
1
@nonenone6704 you brought up UBI, boy genius.
1
@nonenone6704 ok, but you're still the one that brought up UBI, and then asked why I was bringing up UBI as though it was a non sequitur. I was just addressing the point that you brought up.
1
@daborshy4089 yet you don't think poor people can miss one day of work every 2 or 4 years to go vote.
1
Especially considering this is the exact opposite position socdems/progressives take on most topics, any time something isn't free and delivered to people's doors they claim it's some kind of discrimination or suppression. But when it comes to this "well just get the shot, what's the big deal?"
1
@1stLtDavis but if the vaccinated are still spreading it, isn't it at least possible that it was going to become endemic with or without unvaccinated people, or anything else we could have even hypothetically done? And by possible, I mean probable.
1
@patrickmalloy2798 the government issuing decrees to business without passing any legislation is not capitalism.
1
@DaLomlMusic I don't know man, taco analogies are pretty serious. You know what Forrest Gump said, "life is like a taco. Sometimes the government fucks you, and sometimes you get tacos". Or something like that, I'm paraphrasing.
