@uqs57bju there doesn't have to be a clearly defined line, life isn't always that simple. Sometimes there are self defense/murder trials that aren't that clearly defined, that's why we have trials for them, and they're determined on a case by case basis, and sometimes killing someone in self defense is so clearly defined it doesn't even have to go to trial. Abortion in exceptional circumstances could be viewed the same, in the case of a convicted assault, there wouldn't have to be any deliberation at all, clearly the woman is the victim of assault, the assailant has already been found guilty, case closed. As far as a woman wanting an abortion and just making a claim of assault, that might be more complicated.

@nathanielclaw2841 it was a compromise, because democrats agreed that abortions wouldn't be encouraged, "safe, legal, and rare", remember that? The left pissed all over that compromise by celebrating abortion and treating it like it's some kind of right of passage, with no moral implications whatsoever. You broke your part of the compromise. That's the reason the unjust ruling is getting overturned. It's your fault.

@garveydent so there can be separate laws for that, the same as killing someone in self defense isn't the same as homicide. And anyone making a claim for legitimate reasons for abortion can challenge that in court.

@garveydent court dockets can be rushed if they're time sensitive, this would definitely fall into that category. And they wouldn't even always have to go to court, like if the woman's assailant has already been convicted, ok, open and shut, fair enough. Or if there are medical complications that threaten the mothers life, that would be open and shut too. I'm only talking about more clouded claims. And are you really stating that your position is that abortion should only be legal for legitimate claims like this? Or do you think it should just be an always available option just if the mother doesn't want the baby? Because if your position is the latter, you're being extremely dishonest by even taking us around this loop by trying to pretend the exception is the rule

You're pulling out an exceptional circumstance to make your position seem more reasonable, but really your position is that a woman should always be able to have an abortion, no questions asked. @garveydent and I agree with that, but that only applies to victims of assault. That has nothing to do with whether or not abortion should be legal just because the mother doesn't want the baby. Which you support. So the assault example is completely irrelevant. I don't know how I can explain this more clearly so you understand it, this is as simple as the concept can possibly be broken down.

And where does that line of logic end, as far as saying other people should be financially responsible for someone else's poor decision making? Should we have to give money to murderers too? Maybe they wouldn't murder people if we just gave them money. So we should just give them money. Makes sense, right? By your logic.
