The US is one of these things. It's not the other. It is a Republic. Which means it's not..... Wait for it..... A democracy. Did I say that enough different ways for you to start understanding yet?

  5.  @justanotheropinion5832  but it's deliberately misleading, why not just call it a Republic? That's more accurate. A turtle is a reptile, but nobody would say "look at that reptile over there", that's dumb. You say "look at that turtle", so people know what to look for. And that's a benign example, but when people refer to a Republic as a democracy, they're intentionally trying to be misleading, there's no other reason you would use a more broad term like that. You're trying to make people think it's a direct democracy, or that it should be.
