That's extremely childish logic, it's not like we get to trade a life for a life. All of those things are bad, that doesn't make one bad thing ok because other bad things happen. How about we just try to reduce all of the bad things?

What kind of demented logic is this? It seems to be the daily talking point that was uploaded to the progressive cult website, because I see this all over the comments. This has nothing to do with school shootings, 2 things can both be bad.

How many of those incidents do you think there are on average per year? Real question. Give it an estimate. "Too many" is not an answer, give an actual number.

@hibernopithecus7500 I don't subscribe to utilitarian morality. Because you might be right about the numbers today, but it doesn't take much of a cultural shift to tip the scale in the other direction. And it's hard to turn back when you're the predator. This is why McCarthism and the Red Scare is viewed as a generally immoral time in American history, McCarthy wasn't morally wrong, but he was strategically aggressive and a lot of people died. It was hard to say who the "good guys" were. I tend to lean towards McCarthy, because he was right about communism being the greatest evil we faced. We just should have faced it with ideas and diplomacy instead of aggression, because he became a monster, he was just like them.
