Why do lefticles always give anecdotal examples like this and pretend like it means something? Yea sometimes it's colder than usual too. Is that a reason to freak out?

The hyperbole is what causes the alarm though. If you're at least questioning their methodology and phrasing, that's good, keep asking questions.

@ZPositive yea that's what I'm saying, I'm saying that if you're recognizing the dishonesty in their framing here, you should keep pulling on that string. You'll be surprised about the other things climate alarmists are dishonest about. If it's really that bad, why do they have to use hyperbole and misleading framing?

@ZPositive doesn't mean the whole thing is fake, most conservatives believe climate change is real. The real dispute is between how much of it is man made and within our control, and about the potential solutions. It's not like conservatives are all running around starting tire fires and littering as much as possible, I don't think any harm can be done by being environmentally conscious and trying to reduce your own waste and usage. I'm fine with all that. Hell the hilarious irony is that conservative areas actually have a far smaller carbon footprint per Capita than liberal or leftist areas, the vast majority of carbon emissions in the US come from liberal cities.

@ZPositive yea I'm with you there too, and I don't know a ton about nuclear, but based off what I do know, it sounds like it's at least worth giving some consideration to and putting into the arena. But leftists just dismiss it off hand, because it's not about climate change to them, it's about dismantling capitalism. Climate change is just one of the vehicles they use to achieve their political goals.

@ZPositive it's not just climate change either, it's absolutely everything the progressive left pushes for. It's all about power, 100% of it, that's why their proposed solutions don't even seem to align with anything that would actually help the problem they're complaining about, and it's why they leave zero room for compromise, it's always "agree with everything I say, or you're a bigot who doesn't care about people". Because they don't want solutions. They want power. They actively avoid solutions, because then they would have to find something else to manipulate stupid people with.

@tacocruiser4238 there was also a plaque put up by the Obama admin in some park in Alaska saying "this glacier will be completely gone by 2020", and of course 2020 came and went, and the glacier is just fine, and the Obama admin quietly took the plaque down and just hoped nobody would notice.

Because she doesn't want a solution. She just wants you to listen to her complain, and agree with her. Except progressives are far worse, the crazy girlfriend just wants attention, progressives want attention but they also want to destroy your life because they live in a delusion reality where the people at the top will pat them on the head and call them good boys and girls and otherkin, and give them free money for the efforts in the revolution. They haven't read up on history enough to know what happens to the useful idiots after the success of the revolution.

@Ainttrippin we have to trade with each other though, very few people can truly be self sufficient without relying on anyone else to produce anything. It just makes more sense to specialize, where people make different things that we exchange with one another, and money is just the most efficient way to have a standard representation. If you're a chicken farmer you're not gonna want to walk around with a bunch of chickens everywhere you go, in case you see something you want to trade for. So we just make arbitrary tokens and decide "this many dollars is worth this many chickens". I think a lot of leftists don't understand the difference between something being conceptual and something not existing.

@tacocruiser4238 exactly, and I don't want people to be punished for being wrong, even though that's ironically what the left wants when they push for "misinformation" crackdowns, but I do wish the public would wake up and realize these people have been wrong about practically everything, maybe it's time to stop listening to them.

@Jorora_Dev of course climate change is a real thing, I'm just skeptical about the human impact, and even more skeptical of plans from the left that really have nothing to do with the climate and everything to do with pushing in socialism against the will of the people.

@armynavymarine2 but all of the scientific evidence for climate change just shows that the climate is changing. That's all. And a lot of that data does correlate with industrialization, but that does not equal causation, and we can't get an accurate, quantifiable data about the man made impact without having a control, meaning another very similar planet that never had an industrial revolution. That's how science works, little fella. Gotta have a control and a variable. All we have is a variable, and people package that up with "sciency words" to manipulate stupid people like you.

@Ryan88881 you do understand that your observation throughout your 70 or so year life is absolutely meaningless in comparison to actual climatic cycles, right? I know it can seem that way at times, when you're an adult and you see shit you've never seen before, but you have to understand your perspective is extremely limited. Humans survived an actual ice age. It being a little warmer or a little cooler than it was when you were a kid is not cause for alarm.

@Ryan88881 sure, I guess so, but the trend could just as easily reverse next year. I live in Houston and we had a pretty mild summer by our standards, it was only triple digits a few times here and there. And I didn't hear anyone saying "hey look at that, we solved climate change, this summer wasn't that bad!" Because that would be stupid, the climate changes here and there all the time, it's not a sign of the apocalypse every time. And you don't hear about the normal stuff because that's not news, "Houston has mild summer" isn't going to get any clicks, but "holy crap it's never been this hot (in the last 50 years), we're all gonna diiiiieeee!!!!!!" Gets clicks.

@Ryan88881 you do understand that the climate varies based on what region you're in, right? Serious question. Because you really don't seem to even have a basic knowledge about this. You're genuinely trying to argue that climate change is getting worse because your particular region was unusually hot unusually late in the year. That's your argument. Sit and think on that for a second.

@eddynetweb but if you look at the bigger picture, there's been a negligible change in climate over the last several hundred years. We're actually in a period of unusual stability. And sure, the population dynamics were different during the last ice age, but you know what's a very significant difference? Technology. We have central air conditioning and numerous other ways to keep cool, or warm, society is exponentially more well equipped to handle extreme weather now than we ever have been, that's why there's populations in some of the harshest climates in the world, the gambling and general debauchery capital of the western world, Las Vegas, is in the middle of a fucking desert.
