  1. No. Narcissism is a specific disorder, it's relatively common, but not THAT common. I really wish people would stop overusing and misusing the term, it's pretty annoying. Arrogance and selfishness are extremely common, I would say well more than half of people show these traits more often than they should. But they're not all narcissists.

I don't think it's necessarily taking anything away from your role, and it's importance, and since you're in a position where you can't control the fact that you're not a biological parent, you're more likely to appreciate the role you do have. But it's still not the same, and it never will be.
