@umiluv wouldn't isolated liberalism be kind of an oxymoron? Because part of liberty means free trade, which means people within a liberal country will always have interaction and trade with people outside of their country. At least if we're talking about isolationism as an extreme. You could have a liberal nation that also has a tradition and culture of trying to remain nationalistic and more isolated than extreme globalist nations, like the current US. But any kind of force trying to prevent globalization is antithetical to liberalism.

@scottcantdance804 I think at least allowing for free trade is necessary for a free society, otherwise a corrupt government could overreach and cause inflation, since you don't have the option of going outside the country. I still think encouraging domestic trade is a good idea, I would rather be more isolationist and less globalist than the US currently is, but not to the extreme degree where we don't even allow foreign trade. More options for consumers always leads to more competition, which leads to lower prices.

To me it's really a double edged sword, liberalism is good in theory, when it comes to freedom and not harming others, but the main flaw is that it leaves itself vulnerable to savages that don't care about freedom or social cohesion. But in order to combat that, you have to betray the entire concept of liberalism by selectively curbing the rights of others. You either become the monster, or you get taken over by monsters. Because humanity sucks.

This makes me think of how CNN and MSNBC will actually change the tone of Trump's skin to make him look more orange, and how they use dim lighting or more red shades when they're talking about Republicans or anyone else outside of the leftist cult. Because leftists are quite literally so simple minded and easily manipulated, all you have to do is use "evil" colors to control their mind.
