Tolerance is not always a virtue. If someone is different from you in a way that doesn't harm anyone, that's fine, but if their culture and belief system is directly antithetical and incompatible with yours, there is nothing wrong with saying "go live with your people, and leave me with mine".

@Willy_Tepes I'm not talking about obsessive tolerance like liberals preach, I'm just talking about finding a balance between not letting petty differences by a divider, and also not letting tolerance become a weakness. I don't care if 2 adults want to be gay, just leave the kids alone. I don't hate anyone based on their race or ethnicity, but you also aren't owed free handouts just because of your race or ethnicity.

@thelopper43 if they don't agree with it then we enforce existing law. It's not an impossible puzzle to solve, we need to just stop letting anyone and everyone into the country, and we need to stop giving special treatment to anyone who claims victim status.

Wicker_ what makes you so sure the people who would decide what's tolerable would consider you tolerable?

I think a decline in religion is a big part of this. And I say this as an atheist, I don't think every individual person needs to be religious to respect and appreciate that we don't have it all figured out - but a lot of people do need that in some degree. The antitheist left has adopted this mentality that if you can't quantify it, if you can't touch it, it doesn't matter.

@stillcantbesilencedevennow I think within this paradigm, the criminal would be the intolerant, because they're intolerant of the rules set forth by society.

@FEiSTYFEVER love is the perfect counter for people who think of every degree of faith being silly and useless. You can't prove that you love your family, there's no way to measure it or put it into scientific terms. But I'm sure you do love your family, just like I love mine. And you don't have to prove it, you can believe it on faith and that's perfectly reasonable and accepted by most people as reasonable. I view religious faith the same way, if you believe Jesus died for your sins, and he's the path to salvation, I don't have a problem with that, most Christians I know are good people. If you think Allah wants you to slaughter infadels, and you actually carry that out or even philosophically support it, I do absolutely have a problem with that.

I like bread and circuses.

@QuadDamage666 of course it can get worse, the far left still doesn't have complete control, they're fighting for control and they're winning, but they haven't won yet. If we adopt the same tactics as them, it could very easily backfire and give them the power they're looking for. There is still a reasonable middle ground, just because the far left are monsters doesn't mean we have to become monsters too. It's not always so simple to turn that off once you don't need it anymore.
