But it's definitely gotten far worse within the last 10 years or so, I think because of the internet, and people being able to see so many alternative sources from all over the world, a handful of American media outlets have a much harder time having complete control of the narrative. And they know they can't combat that, so they've just gone full blown propaganda. There are cities with higher per capita rates, but also keep in mind that Chicago is a huge city with a lot of variation in crime rates, the majority of the violence is centralized to certain areas. There's large portions of Chicago that are actually pretty safe, same for Houston or New York or any other big city. But the bad parts of Chicago are worse than pretty much any other area in the nation.
