I don't think it's so much that people confuse the 2, it's that they're inherently linked to one another, and socialists and communists are dishonest, and constantly shifting their position depending on what kind of lie they're trying to pass off.

@seanfl33 the only thing conservatism and fascism have in common is an emphasis on nationalism and tradition. Outside of that, fascism has more in common with communism than it does with conservatism.

@mikejohnston7111 communists are socialists, communism is considered the "end goal" for most socialists, where instead of having high taxes and a great percentage of goods being provided by the state, there's essentially no monetary system or at least very little need for a monetary system, because all goods and services are just provided. Abolishment of private property and ownership of goods. A lot of communists idealize this as all being provided from person to person essentially, but that's just not practical because not everyone is just going to volunteer their labor or goods, so any attempt at communism always results in authoritarian government.

@mikejohnston7111 communists will tell you communism means "workers owning the means of production" but that's just convoluted nonsense communist thought leaders say, and communists aren't smart enough to know what it means. But the thought leaders tell them they'll have everything they need and not have to work, and they suck at life and hate working, so they just go along with whatever the thought leaders say.

@roxannehale1386 I would still rather live in the US than anywhere else, I think it's generally a great country to live in. But our political system is crumbling, a lot of the reason we're still doing ok is that we're just running on the fumes of our past success. And I don't have all the answers, but the one thing I do know is all of the people who just vote for whichever party promises the most free shit are only making things worse, I don't understand how an adult can be so stupid they think giving the government more money and more power is going to solve the problems that were caused by the government having too much money and too much power. It baffles me.

@elic.j.4294 Trump is just an asshole, and leftists think he's racist because leftists are racists, and they don't think you should ever criticize someone that's not white. And Trump doesn't give AF, and will criticize anyone he thinks deserves criticism, regardless of whether or not they're part of one of the left's protected pet classes.

@mikejohnston7111 well that depends on what you think the goal of communism is. If you're a true believer in communism, you would say "that's not real communism", as they often do. But if you're actually looking at history, and what all attempts at communism inevitably turn into, then yea, that's real communism. Just because it's not exactly what they sold you doesn't mean it's not real.

@roxannehale1386 well politicians generally don't have the people's well being in their foremost interest, especially in a country where most of the voting block is so stupid they think more government is the solution to all the problems their government has caused. But republican politicians are generally much better than Democrats in regards to authoritarianism, most Republicans want to get rich or remain rich by making the whole country more rich, democrats want to get or remain rich at the expense of the people.
