  1. @Liam- yes, essentially. If everyone stopped tipping, and employers could no longer claim that on tax filing, then they would be required to pay their workers minimum wage.

  2. @Liam- most waiters and waitresses wouldn't want to, they make far more from tips than most other low skilled labor jobs do. I think they should have a say in how all of that goes.

  3. For real, 15% is considered standard, with as shit as the economy is right now, I consider that pretty low, I suppose it's still fair. Anything less than that though, you're just a cockface. There's no 2 ways about it, unless you got bad service. If you can't afford to tip the waitstaff a decent share, then you can't afford to eat out. I tell people all the time though, NEVER stiff a tip, even if you got absolutely terrible service. Give them a shitty tip if you got shitty service. If you just don't tip them at all, then they may think you're just a stingy cockface. Tipping is their income, but it's also their feedback, if you give them a bad tip then they know they did something wrong. If you don't tip them at all, they don't know if it's you or them.

You can't just say "it works in this country, so it should work in that country" without factoring in everything else thats different about those 2 countries. Only a first grader would be so stupid they use that level of reasoning and think it's case closed. Usually. Some first graders are already smart enough to understand why that's faulty reasoning.
