Jesus was a socialist because he could just poof wine and bread into existence. Everyone would be a socialist if we didn't have to deal with issues like scarcity, market fluctuation, and human nature. But most of us grow up and understand that none of those problems are ever going to go away, short of some kind of devine intervention.

The bible was written during a time that there was a lot of cross immigration and war torn turmoil between Europe, the middle east, and Northern Africa. There was a great variance of racial mixing, throughout the entire region, save for specific regions that were extremely homogenous. It's absolutely hysterical how the left always tries to cite this era as "proofs" for why leftism is a good idea, when leftism was exclusively responsible for the downfall of every single society from antiquity.

Conservatives are far more charitable with excess money, this is very well documented. Leftists want to force people to give back to the poor, conservatives want people to be self sufficient and fix their roof before they feed their neighbor. It's called being an adult.

@canuckprogressive.3435 take a look at some numbers comparing welfare paid by taxes and church donations, per Capita in areas that have strong church attendence. It's pretty telling. You don't have to believe in God to see the positive impact faith has on society, I'm an atheist, but I love Christians, most of my favorite people I've ever met were Christian. Finding something that drives you towards being a good person isn't that easy, it's not the default setting for humans. Our default setting is to be ruthless, and self serving, because that's the easiest way to survive and thrive within a cooperative society. Getting people to voluntarily cooperate with you is a lot harder than getting them to involuntarily help you through deception. It doesn't have to be god, or any particular religion, or religion at all, you just have to believe you're not the most important thing in the universe. Even if you concede that you don't know what the most important thing in the universe is.
