  1. Fortune 500 companies usually pay more starting. It's one of those catch 22s, if you kinda suck you should probably work for a big company. You can get paid a decent wage to do basically fuck all. If you're actually a skilled, hard working person, you should find a smaller company. It'll be tough putting your foot in the door and take some time to work up, but it's much more rewarding and in the long run more beneficial to work somewhere you're actually noticed and compensated for your efforts.

  2.  @stacybaldwin3346  I work at a mom and pop dog kennel, boarding and day care, have for almost 10 years. They pay the kids alright, better than you would get at fast food or retail. You stick around for a while and take initiative, they give raises accordingly. I'm far from rich, I make enough to afford an apartment and basic living standards, that's good enough for me. I would recommend for any young person starting off to work at a small business rather than something big, it gives you a much better understanding of working up within a company. Opportunities exist for people to make a decent living, there's just too many excuses and people looking for a free handout. There's no easy button. Life is what you make it.

  5. It cracks me up how leftists are constantly looking for a way to make more money that doesn't involve working harder, putting in more hours, and being more skillful. You literally spend more effort trying to find an easy way than it would take to just do it the old fashioned way, and be better at working and earn more money.

  6.  @stacybaldwin3346  nailed it, and I've admittedly lingered at a base level job for longer than a 38 year old man probably should, but I like my job, I love my dogs, I like my bosses, and I make enough to get by. I'm not trying to get rich, I'm trying to have a happy life where I feel like I'm contributing. I think that's what a lot of young leftists lack. They think they need money, but what they really need is a sense of purpose.

  9.  @morganblackhand2904  there is an absolute epidemic of people taking time off, calling in sick, showing up late, and overall just doing a shit job. I'm 38, been in the working world for about 22 years now, consistently. And what I've seen in the last 2 years is mind numbingly awful, not just at my own job, but absolutely everywhere I go as a customer. More and more incompetent, lazy, entitled people, expecting to get a paycheck just because the show up at their job somewhere in the vicinity of their scheduled time and stay their until somewhere in the vicinity of their scheduled time off. It seems like about 10% of the people in the American work force actually work these days.

  12.  @ralomicron  employers also have their hands tied by lawsuits and unemployment. So higher pay is basically a war of attrition, whoever stays the longest without fucking something up monumentally gets paid the most.
