@seanm2511 that's the opposite of true, the primary liberal base is the extremely rich and the extremely poor. People in the middle classes tend more towards conservatism. It's also heavily influenced by region, big cities tend to be more liberal and everyone else is more conservative.

@blakejameson1114 YouTube shadow bans a lot of comments. I really can't put my thumb on the reasoning either, it doesn't seem like they hide comments for being vulgar or inflammatory, because I see a lot of comments like that not being hidden. It almost seems completely random.

@blakejameson1114 that's one of my top theories. It seems like the comments that get hidden tend to disagree with the OP, if I had to guess I would say they're trying to cultivate echo chambers and make people with extreme views feel like their views are more popular than they actually are.

It really seems like most of the people in these comments have no idea what conservatives actually believe. I'm not sure if they're genuinely that out of touch, or if they're just deliberately misrepresenting conservative views so they don't have to think about it and come up with a real refutation for what conservatives actually believe. Probably some combination of both.

Leftists think the world owes them a favor just because they exist, you want to take people's money and resources just because they have more than you, you want to force other people to pay for your bad decisions. It's the most selfish ideology that's ever existed.

Progressives are convinced if they can just shuffle the proverbial deck of life enough times, they'll somehow end up on top. Because..... Magic I guess? I don't really understand what they hope to achieve, at least within the realm of reality. I'm not sure if they even know.

I don't think most conservatives think the American system is perfect, they just don't think we should change things just for the sake of change, that we should have a logical reason to think a new way of doing things would be better than the old or current way before we change it.

I don't think you should always stick to old ideas, or always look to new ideas either. It depends on the specific idea or situation. And conservatives don't want to always keep everything the same, for all eternity. They just believe in slow societal change, based on logical and necessary steps towards going forward. Some things are best the way they are, some things need to change.

@sandyunderpants4376 I seriously don't understand how anyone can still vote democrat. I guess the media indoctrination is really that powerful and effective. Even if I had left leaning views I feel like I couldn't vote democrat in good conscience, considering how demonstrably disastrous their policies have been. The most generous I can be to democrat voters is that they just don't pay attention, and I don't even consider that a valid excuse, if you don't know anything about current politics, then you shouldn't vote.

@nikgarcia2823 and that's not a bug, it's a feature. It's basically THE defining feature of climate change alarmism, they're playing off of people's rational fears to create an irrational reaction, democrat plans about climate change have nothing to do with climate change, and everything to do with centralizing more political power into their hands and the hands of their wealthy donors.

@seanm8030 conservatives are moderate, "always" and "never" don't come up very often in conservative ideology because the general framework is that social and political issues should be taken on a case by case basis, and there is an exception to very many things. And generally speaking we want a culture that promotes traditional Judeo-Christian family values, that you should judge people by their character and actions rather than by their identity, that you should be respectful of the people around you as long as they're respectful towards you, we want a small government that mostly focuses on matters of defense and liberty, and that states rights are usually more important than sweeping federal legislation, although there is a reason that the fed exists, there should be a certain degree of uniformity in law and economics, we want lower taxes, we don't want to heavily penalize the wealthy, we believe in constitutional law, and that we shouldn't be militantly tough on crime but that we do need to be tough on crime to an extent, that freedom is important but only as long as it doesn't come at the expense of national security or encroaching on other people's freedoms.

@seanm8030 then you just don't actually listen to conservatives. If someone on the right has extreme and absolutist positions on a variety of things, chances are they're actually a libertarian or ancap, not conservative.

@seanm8030 more democrat voters think the 2016 election was fraudulent than Republican voters who think 2020 was. And those polls are extremely misleading too, since they don't make a distinction between people who think there was hard fraud and people who just think the election was unfair, which it objectively was, big tech companies and mainstream media have openly bragged about swaying the election in favor of Biden.

Conservatives don't want nothing to ever change, under any circumstances, they just think societal change should be slow and pragmatic, and that we shouldn't just burn society down because some people are unhappy, that we should have a new system planned to replace old systems, and have logical reasons for thinking this new system will be better than the old one. The fact that so many leftists are so confused about what conservatism means really just shows that your mind can only operate in extremes. Which is precisely why the left is so violent and dangerous. You don't even comprehend what compromise is.

@seanm2511 no it's verifiably true. There are actual statistics you can look up that track voting tendencies by income, that's a real thing. Wait till you find out that over 90% of the wealthiest political donors donate to Democrat politicians. They're not the party of the working class. Democrats are the party of the elites and the welfare class.

@hirampriggott1689 San Diego has far lower crime rates than other cities with comparable population size and density, and it's the most populous conservative city in the nation. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Some things have shifted, most conservatives have a more relaxed view about weed and gay marriage than they did 10 years ago, probably some other issues I'm overlooking too, but the general framework of conservative ideology has remained largely the same. The left, however, has blasted further to the left at breakneck speeds, if a liberal from 10 years ago was in a coma and woke up today, they would have no idea what in the hell happened to leftism and how.
