And I'm a bit of a holiday Scrooge myself, but I've never tried to shit on it for anyone else. I just don't really care that much.

@CuteAssTiger not sure if you're aware of this, but kids are irrational and often immoral little monsters. Rationalizing with them as though they're an adult isn't always effective. You can still encourage them to do the right thing because it's the right thing to do, and also introduce an incentive system to help them understand the idea.

@TheWolfsnack and gender ideology is just meant to confuse kids who are already confused, and groom them into being helpless losers who turn to the government to solve all their problems.

I've never really been big on Christmas, but my first kid is on the way so I'm actually doing the whole Christmas thing that people do this year, for the first time as an adult. I've also never tried to shit on it for everyone else either, because I'm not an insufferable prick. I just don't care that much for my own sake. Christmas is for kids.

@CuteAssTiger I agree there's a bit of a moral double standard, we're told not to lie, especially to be open and honest with our kids, and it's completely culturally acceptable and even encouraged to tell our kids nonsense about Santa and the Easter Bunny and all that. But those are pretty benign lies, and they're meant to just ease them into more complex concepts like short term loss for long term game. If you try to rationalize with a 5 year old that if they don't act like a little shit then they'll be a better person as an adult, that's gonna go in one ear and out the other. But if you tell them if they act nice they'll get presents from Santa at the end of the year, now you're speaking their language. I see where you're coming from and I've thought about it before too. But it's really no big deal, nobody is always honest, all the time. If lying about Santa is your biggest concern, I would say you're doing alright.
