I love reptiles and amphibians, I'm a huge nerd and I had a bunch of frogs when I was a kid, huge terrarium, had some lizards and turtles too. And some of them do show some personality, they're stupid but they're not as stupid as some people think, their basic, survivalist mentality can sometimes manifest in some borderline "human like" ways when they're in captivity and only know people. But they're fucking reptiles. They're not dogs.
