She was trying to influence her into actually getting engaged with politics, but she focused too much on voting and should have focused on actually paying attention to issues. Or not at all. I've never voted for the NBA All-Star game, because I don't care about basketball. There's no shame in that.   119. This is why we need to overhaul our electoral system, and have more Presidential candidates, 10 or something like that, whoever gets the highest percentage of electoral votes wins. Or have an open runoff, and the top 3 candidates make it to the general election. More candidates means it's more likely you find one who actually represents most of your ideals, and not just one who sucks less than the other guy, and it also makes smear campaigns effectively impossible to win by. It's harder to smear your opponent when you have 9 opponents, and even if you go for that strategy, it would be the end of your campaign, because you would just come across as whiny. More candidates means more honest campaigning, they would be forced to actually sell themselves instead of just smearing the other guy.
