@UnclePhil1112 I have a coworker that doesn't care about politics at all, never has, our boss shamed her into voting, because she kept telling her "you have a kid, you have to get involved in politics". Shamefully our boss is a conservative/libertarian, I get where she was coming from, but she's off the mark. Guess who the coworker voted for. She was trying to influence her into actually getting engaged with politics, but she focused too much on voting and should have focused on actually paying attention to issues. Or not at all. I've always maintained to that particular coworker and anyone else, don't care about politics if you don't want to, I'm not going to pressure you. Just don't vote if you don't care. I've never voted for the NBA All-Star game, because I don't care about basketball. There's no shame in that. Politics is a little different, as an adult with a kid, you probably should be involved at least a little bit. But it's better to be apathetic and not vote than to be just slightly involved and vote.

This is why we need to overhaul our electoral system, and have more Presidential candidates, 10 or something like that, whoever gets the highest percentage of electoral votes wins. Or have an open runoff, and the top 3 candidates make it to the general election. More candidates means it's more likely you find one who actually represents most of your ideals, and not just one who sucks less than the other guy, and it also makes smear campaigns effectively impossible to win by. It's harder to smear your opponent when you have 9 opponents, and even if you go for that strategy, it would be the end of your campaign, because you would just come across as whiny. More candidates means more honest campaigning, they would be forced to actually sell themselves instead of just smearing the other guy.
