@bvoyelr the simplest explanation is that high crime areas become poor areas over a long enough amount of time. Nobody wants to start a business in an area that has a reputation for high crime, so there are fewer job opportunities, and the cycle perpetuates itself. Pro crime leftists will argue that they commit crimes because they're poor, but if that were true then all of the government money that's being spent to "correct" these problems would actually make a difference.

@bobjohnson1633 I work at a kennel, doggie day care and boarding, all that stuff, and there's a black family that brings a white and brindle french bulldog, really bizarre coat coloring, I haven't asked but I'm sure the dog cost them a completely absurd amount of money, french bulldogs are one of the most expensive breeds on average, and weird coat colors like that typically cost the most money. And wouldn't ya know it, their card is declined almost every time they check out, they're always complaining about our pricing, they feed the dog the cheapest generic food, the ole Roy Walmart brand bullshit. Blows my mind that they would spend most likely thousands of dollars on a "luxury" dog from a breeder and they can barely afford basic upkeep.

@GhostSal I don't think diversity by itself is either good or bad, it just is, but in a meritocratic system, you would have the appropriate amount of diversity because it wouldn't be forced, you would just have the same rules applied for all races and ethnicities and the chips would fall wherever they fall. This would also solve for a lot of the cultural issues, because it wouldn't matter what culture you come from, when you're here, you obey the laws and cultures of your current home nation.

And like Sean says all the time, crime brings poverty, not the other way around. There are plenty of poor people who don't commit crimes, leftists have this black and white view of the world, like successful people are all snarling villains who steal from the poor, and poor people are all Aladin, that's just not true, it's not real life. A lot of poor people are poor because they make bad decisions. It's not pleasant, but it's reality.

I'm old enough to remember when the mainstream left and right actually agreed about a lot of things, we just disagreed about the best ways to solve problems moving forward. The left used to be softer on crime, and want to focus more on rehabilitation to prevent future crimes, and the right was harder on crime, and wanted to focus on harsh penalties as a deterrant, and keeping repeat and violent offenders off the streets entirely. But we all agreed that crime is bad, and we want to reduce it as much as possible and keep our streets safe. Now the left is full blown pro criminal, there is absolutely no limit to the violent and criminal behavior they will defend. This is not a reasonable position that any reasonable person can find a middle ground with.

@paulocesarferraro5722 exactly, the government already steals from taxpayers to provide the essentials for poor people, they don't need to steal any more just to survive. The official numbers on starvation in the US is 0 per year, because starvation is so rare they can't even really provide data for it, on the extremely rare occasion an American actually starves to death, it's usually because they were stranded in the wilderness or had some other preexisting condition that prevents them from retaining nutrients. So this "stealing to survive" narrative the left loves to mouth fart about is complete nonsense.
