  2. The left has tapped into the fact that as you grow into an adult, you have a natural tendency to want to be part of a "cause". This can manifest in a lot of different ways, it's why so many teenagers and early 20s start playing an instrument and try to join a band, or why they get into tattoos and piercings, or any other number of bizarre and niche things. It's just about wanting to be part of a group, moving towards a common goal or interest.
