  1. I remember those Hewlett Packard calculators that were programmable with little strips of magnetic tape - for the early 1970s it was pretty rad. Our college actually had a special conference to decide if calculators would be allowed in finals, can you imagine?

  2.  @alanmoore2197  Thank you kindly Alan - my knowledge of the history of calculatos is nonexistent, but those HP ones were the beginning of my interest in such things, so they stuck in my mind. I know they were the sine qua non at the time. Heck, in my chemistry class we had an electronic calculator, basically a glorified adding machine with Nixie tube displays, go figure! ;*p
