Yeah that’s why it’s hard being around others if you are depressed - you have to keep up a somewhat cheery attitude or else it makes things harder

“My favorite dog is dead” This hits hard. I had 2 dogs that were my best friends. One was small and the other was big and they were full Of energy and enthusiasm. Great walking partners .. they loved their walks and roaming the yard. They both passed and I did get another dog but I just don’t have that same attachment to. He doesn’t like walking or doing much.. ahh …

“And ignore my boundaries all of the time” Ahh yes I’ve known several extroverts like this. Even when you tell them That you don’t like unannounced visits(and that they need to call prior) they think nothing of stopping by and talking about dumb shit. That or you tell them over the phone that you have to go and repeat it only for them to continue to talk. I actually cut people out of my life for continuously stepping over the boundaries. I’m truly amazed that adults don’t understand that other people have different temperaments . If there is one thing I could tell young introverts is to establish boundaries up front with people and don’t let them cross them More than a few times. This is very important

We are overthinking this. Our lives are so safe at this point that we have too much time to think about everything .. our ancestors were too busy surviving - we are too busy thinking and obsessing over purpose
6
Yes but what’s bad is we now have a device in our pocket that alerts us to bad things happening all the time

@trialandcreate good idea and I’ve always found it extremely difficult to find fellow introverts that I can truly vibe with and talk to that also understand my social behavior.. social behavior = I don’t need much contact with people .

@saintejeannedarc9460 do you exercise daily? Is your diet healthy? Start with these 2 things and you’ll feel better

@Solitude11-11 sorry to hear that but I know how it is.. think about getting a new dog as many could use a good home

@johnCjr4671 agree and I really think social media is a large problem. People overthink and gather in echo chambers and doom Scroll and just make themselves even more miserable. We’d be much better off putting our phone down, grabbing our dog and taking him for a long walk

Yep. Apathy, no motivation or energy .. just forcing ourselves to do basic everyday things. Sleep tends to suffer too so there’s no escape.. medications are so hit and miss .. very hard to relate to peers with this disorder

Anyone been in conversations with someone where you are noticeably busy or just need to leave the conversation and you tell the person “oh I gotta go now” and the person just keeps talking..? There have been times I’ve had to say that 2-3 times and the person still doesn’t get the hint. These types of people I honestly avoid from then on out

Oh btw yes I remember family and friends telling me how my more introverted nature was wrong and that I should be more outgoing and want to socialize all the time. This really hurt my self perception as I wasn’t even sure what introversion was back then. This really led to anxiety and depression at times because I just couldn’t socialize like others . So yes, the damage caused by family can linger

I do think many people are very self absorbed though.

@cualter honestly if you are very introverted you pretty much have to learn to be very assertive because people will drain you if you let them. I’ve had to be straight up rude just to get them To understand my point

Oh as a very introverted guy in the past I’ve tried really pushing my social boundaries in terms of going out more with friends(as they really could pressure me at times) and I ended up using alcohol/drugs … certain drugs made me much more social and engaged but it’s not a long term fix Low awareness extroverts can be very difficult to deal with

My dog died last December and it’s hard taking those walks without him . I’m cautious about getting another dog as my energy is lacking
2
Without my dog I literally would have no reason to be here..

@maximumred7334 . Women have the same regrets. I know very successful people that are filled with regret and they’ve lived a much better life than 90% of people. That is scary to me in a way

Happiness doesn’t exist folks - I’m not sure why we think it should..? We are here to reproduce and keep the species going and that’s it . To think we will ever get to this state of happiness(whatever that even means?) is just silly
1
@heidibell3016 no, way too many people already rely too much on alcohol or weed to numb their mind and it usually ends up making them feel worse

If people just started by cleaning up their diet and started exercising daily then they’d feel much better.. reduce online time and get out into nature ..

@marshallmathers2740 in all fairness if someone has never been depressed it’s going to be hard for them To understand how someone can’t Muster the motivation to even get out of bed. You can’t expect them To give you Practical solutions either

lol we’ve all been there! Just stuck with someone that just seems intent on talking to you for hours on end. I’ve had to just be straight up rude to them to get them to get the hint. There are those extroverts either very low social awareness and they can be very irritating
