@jf7243 I don’t see the majority standing up .. the last 4-5 years I’ve seen the cowardice of most humans

I just don’t see the upside in having a kid. I recognized from a young age that children were something I didn’t want

Sowell is great but we rarely seem to talk about class these days but focus it all on race and gender .
22
Yeah I know a few great couples with healthy families but for every one of them there are 4 that are constantly stressed and fighting half the time. No thanks
15
I do too to a certain extent. That said, what honestly do you recommend them do at this point? That’s the problem I see - I hear their complaints and they are right on many points but I fail in seeing how we can motivate them or get the on the right track.

Love this discussion. Dennis Prager is one of the wisest men I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to

Trauma is overrated though and these days many people focus on dwelling on their trauma. I’m all for talking about it and identifying it but then work towards a solution - that or recognize it’s in your past and that you Must move on already

@teoleno4019 the climate of fear many of you live in is truly comical. Think about what our ancestors lived through. There were times they didn’t feel safe traveling outside their small area and rates of miscarriage were sky high. That and diseases were not well known or able to be treated . Many of you watch too much doomer content

If only the left would understand that

But what about working hard to build a nice life for yourself? Why do you need the extra motivation from having a wife and kids? Women don’t need that so men shouldn’t either
3
@skylinefever or that country might just import men that will do it . That is what the west is seeing right now - if younger western men won’t work then they will let eager immigrants come into that will . The game you are playing is a lose/lose strategy
2
@savevsdeath I’ve noticed that as well. Nicholas and others like Richard Reeves have never brought up feminism and the negatives that have come with it. I don’t think feminism is the main cause of this issue but it’s definitely a big factor and ignoring it is counter productive

America is nowhere near a 3rd world country but we are headed that way

I simply do not believe that most of these young men cannot find dates. I’d say 90% of the guys I know are rather average in every aspect of their life but they either have gfs or are married. I think many of you rely too much on dating apps and put too much stock into these studies . Get offline and start going out and talking to women. Try to stay off red and black pill channels as I see many of you reciting the same rhetoric and it’s making you guys psych yourself out of the game . Trust me, there are plenty of girls out there that aren’t demanding guys that make 6 figures and have a 6 pack etc etc

@roninbruh I really don’t think he was trying to shame men but merely pointing out the strange problems in our society. To guys like him(and me to some extent) it is truly bizarre that younger capable men are not pursuing education, work or women. Not being able to save up and afford a house does and should not cripple your desire to live
1
@skylinefever but if a guy graduates high school and gets a job right out of school where he can work his way up - he will do fine as long as he doesn’t do drugs or have kids too early. Will he be able to live high and lightly in Beverly Hills? No but he can still afford a nice place if he puts the work in. If they have to rent so be it - what is the other option? Just giving up?
1
Yep, we just do things and implement policies and don’t even contemplate the possible problems that might arise. Then after we observe the problems that have came out if said policy changes - we just shrug our shoulders and make other absurd policy changes .. rinse and repeat
1
Yeah those wars that Trump got us into were catastrophic

@jakw97 my friend is a professor and it’s taboo to even bring up Sowell in conversations with other professors. The ideology is that rigid
1
I’ve noticed the big stop in values but the problem is how do you bring them back?
1
@dannyb3663 exactly. Change is possible but it would take a very large movement on multiple fronts to even begin to fix it. We aren’t even lining up to do this though so I don’t see things improving for a long time
1
Because if you don’t work you will be poor and live a much less fulfilling life? I don’t get how or what you guys plan on doing if you don’t work
1
@empoweryou1 algebra is mostly useless
1
@peterbrown3944 that’s true but look at our past - during antebellum blacks continued to have children. Same during the Great Depression - people kept having children. . You’d think those groups would have been much more hopeless than us in 2023. Something else has happened here that we aren’t discovering. Obviously there’s multiple issues causing the hopelessness but we are missing a few big ones
1
@africkinamerican good point but I ask what is the alternative to working for that company? I mean I wish I could never work again but I pretty much have to . Maybe you aim to start your own business? I’m up for different options here but I struggle to see them
1
@brandondegraaf if you are all those things you listed and still can’t attract a woman then you are either not trying hard enough or your social skills are lacking. That or maybe your standards are to high? You haven’t had any women interested or attracted to you in a decade?!? How often do you go out socially?
