Judea/Palestine/Jordan issues are similar to Balkans which is a 3-way contest between mostly Catholic states (Croatia and Slovenia, backed by western Europe), mostly Christian Orthodox states (Serbia, backed by Russia), and mostly Muslim state (Bosnia via Islamic Ottoman Empire (Turkey) injection). This is a messy old-world issue.
