1. Youtube has ads revenue sharing with content providers, hence similar logic should apply for other companies like Facebook. 2. Closing the GST loopholes. 3. Australia has access to the Five Eyes.

@tilbintt3491 Wrong, Facebook has no revenue sharing when news links are posted. Please don't speak stupid things.

@tilbintt3491 Due to the Five Eyes, the Australian government can track money transactions. For example, Facebook sold an estimated $2.2 billion in ads to Australian clients in 2019, but only reported $709.5 million of sales as ads booked through its Australian arm. The goal of the legislation was to even the playing field with local companies that had to charge GST – notably Netflix which competed with Stan, owned by Nine Entertainment, which publishes The Australian Financial Review. @tilbintt3491 When a person posts a news link on Facebook, a small preview version is created e.g. https://q3p9g6n2.rocketcdn.me/wp-content/ml-loads/2017/08/Facebook_LinkPreviewRedesign-630x600.png Posting news links attracts internet traffic to Facebook. The small preview version is the news content that Facebook didn't create and Facebook is profiting from it when it places ads near the posted news preview link.
