  1. ​ @StubbornProgrammer  It could be memory controller degradation. My Core i7-3770K with MSI mPower motherboard still works with DDR3 XMP. I sold my Haswell Core i7-4790K and Skylake-X Core i7-7820X and their related motherboards.

  2. Beyond "gaming" 4 cores with 8 threads Core i7 Ivybridge / Haswell era, there are higher priced HEDT CPUs for content creators. Yesteryear's HEDT CPU roles have merged with the current Core i9 / Ryzen 9 SKUs. Haswell-E Core i7 5960X Extreme has 8 cores with 16 threads and a $999 asking price. Haswell-E Core i7 5930K Extreme has 6 cores with 12 threads and a $583 asking price. Ryzen 9 7950X (with 16 cores and 32 threads)'s current price is around $576. Prices are in USD. I did have Core i7 7820X Skylake-X (8-cores with 16 threads and AVX-512) during the Skylake S era. I obtained a freebie decommissioned server from work with dual LGA1366 sockets (two Xeon X5690 six cores with 12 threads @ 3.4 Ghz, a total of 12 cores with 24 threads) and 64 GB DDR3-1333 ECC registered memory.
