Even in the corporate world, we have one level of boss who is very motivational and inspiring but when things go bad, he is reduced to "Pull up your socks and have at it again" Then you have the boss who's also motivational and inspiring, but when things don't work out, he's actually empathic and intuitive. He values the need for healing and tries gently and sympathetically to find out what really is blocking the success. In self-help, you're trying to be your own boss. And you can move up a level from the "Get back on that horse son" boss to the "Let's have a nice cup of tea and think about what really happened here" kind by upgrading from self-esteem to self-love.
