actually everything musk has said about hydrogen (in terms of technical details not rhetoric like calling them fool cells) has been correct. They dont make very good domestic passenger cars but for zero emission vehicles they fill a very particular and important niche that batteries just cant.

technically, they are more practical almost 99% of the time in daily use and have enough range to suit 3-4 days of use without charging. Also BEV's are 11 times less likely to spontaneously combust and 5 times less likely to combust in an accident. So no, probably wont set your home on fire. an ICE car has a much higher chance of doing that.

Well, even if the energy used is created by burning fossil fuels it is still more emissions friendly than driving a combustion car. Infact its so much more efficient that its still more fuel efficient to charge your EV with a cheap small portable generator than it is to use that same fuel in a combustion engine. Let alone the increased efficiency of a large scale power plant. Further to that, as the grids slowly incorporate more renewables, EV's become greener and greener still. Its far better for the environment to capitalize on that while its developing instead of waiting until all electricity production is renewable before decided to stop burning fossil fuels in cars.
