@miguellopez3392 actually about a year or two ago, Tesla released all their patents to the public for other automakers to use. Elon said the move, whilst isn’t business savvy, does align with their companies mission statement to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation. Allowing other companies to even begin to compete with Tesla by release much of their technology without cost, accomplishes this. Infact the taycan used more than a few Tesla based technologies in their car.

@miguellopez3392 in Tesla’s statement listed on their website it states ”Tesla will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who, in good faith, wants to use our technology.” As for the taycan they got their electric motor for a third party provider who used some of Tesla’s electricity motor patents making it similar to the motors used in the 2012 model S. Or that is my understanding at least.

@miguellopez3392 well firstly I’d like to say that collecting someone else’s data or copying methods, isn’t related to patents. It’s closer to intellectual property. Tesla ha released all the patents for the technology they no longer use. Such as their older electric motor designs and older wiring harnesses. Not what they current have in their cars

@miguellopez3392 they don’t protect data with patents.
