I'm Italian, and I can tell you that regular drivers are VERY alert when they hear/see fire trucks getting close, 'cause they are big, heavy, and very fast, and if it's a real emergency, they could literally push through if needed. Maybe it's just a urban myth, but you know, nobody wants to be physically pushed to the side, so nobody is gonna risk it...

@DvD811 An ambulance driver I know did push a car in front of him once... It was a narrow road, they had a serious emergency on board (a particularly harmful mix of alcohol and medications a guy had ingested, if I remember well), and the car's driver wasn't getting out of the way. He was never sued or anything for that (he probably just hit the bumper without doing any lasting damage... The driver in front of him finally got the hint).

@lynnm6413 We have a dedicated lane of emergency vehicles in Italy too, but it's on the right side, and nobody else is supposed to use it unless they have an emergency themselves.

8:35 "Almost daily"? Nope... With every single meal (even breakfast, more often than not).

4:29 He said "We are driving on the wrong side of the road at 80Km/h (50mph)".
4
9:28 He said to that car's driver to steer his/her wheels... Just imagine how tight the gap is, if steering the wheels makes the difference!

3:44 Why didn't they get inside from one of the windows? I can't see any steel rebars protecting them, and even if they had reinforced glass, it would be easier to to crash anyway, compared to the front door...

Same here in Italy.

Same in Italy. All garbage trucks have robotic arms and are operated by the driver. No other operators needed. It has been like that since I was a kid, decades ago...

That European door is pretty good, but it doesn't even have the best-quality key/locking mechanism. The so-called "European" key can't be copied even if you have one: you need the magnetic card that comes with it when you buy it. That means nobody can make a copy your key even if you borrow it.

5:40 Did she think the Earth was flat and South Africa was on the "bottom side" or something?
1
To all Americans out there: there's no point in having a very sturdy door, if the windows have no bars/anti-instrusion glass and/or the walls are flimsy.

2:58 Italy, too! We sell those trains to Spain!

Take a look at Italian "Frecciarossa" ("Redarrow"), the so called "Ferrari of the rails", or its direct competitor, "Italo"...

Italian highways and biggests interregional roads have an emergency lane on the right that stays empty all the time. You are not supposed to occupy it unless you have an emergency yourself; if you do, you risk paying HEAVY fines (like, a few grands or something) or even your driving license being revoked.

I just borrowed my neighbor a ladder to get back in her apartment through her balcony: she had locked herself out by mistake, and there was no way she could get through the closed door. Luckily for her, she had left the balcony door open, steel gate included, otherwise she'd be dealing with the firefighters by now...

1:40 The driver is honking precisely because it is NOT a one way road... 😅

11:17 Garbage trucks in my city (Florence, Italy) are even more interesting. Can you react to them? They have side-loading robotic arms for different recicled materials, so they driver can handle all the work on his own. Underground bin emptying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aicA-lnk1TY; up-close (so close, in fact, I think the driver was waiting for that tourist to move a bit...): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFV6dhUaEXE Regular bins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lbo54vD_zuc (7 years ago!); https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oLhfX6C9FpM And of course, garbage boats are what's used in Venice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD6pzk92HG8; canal cleaning: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hFof3LgFoPY

If you installed a European-style front door in a regular American house, thiefs would let it be and demolish the (comparetively flimsy) walls surrounding it instead.

I LOVE eldelberry flowers syrup!

@Onkel-Stevo Nope. I'm Italian.

Garbage trucks in Italy (in Florence for example, where I live) are FAR more advanced than this: they have a robotic arm doing all the work, lifting the bins and emptying in different compartments, divided by type of garbage. I haven't seen a human operator climbing down those vehicles since I was child... and I'm 40 now. The driver can handle the entire process on his own, and one single truck can transport different kinds of garbage at the same time, divided by type.
1
Truth be said, I'm surprised to see that those trucks aren't fully authomated in other developed countries...

6:56 In Italy the ambulance usually has a reserved lane on the right, so everybody is supposed to stay out of that (if you don't, you are HEAVILY fined).
1
8:25 It's actually the MOST common type in Italy.
1
Same in Italy. It's safer.

3:35, 4:09 That station is in Italy, and the train is the world-famous "Frecciarossa" ("Red arrow").

When I was a child, I could still see some on the road... I had not the chance then, but I'd love to ride one at least once.
