Homelander is not an example of a real person who has these powers. He's an example of someone who has let power corrupt him. Superman was raised to be kind and empathetic, and he would never turn his back on anyone in danger.

People don't always have the answers to problems. Even those we turn to for advice don't always have the answers. All Johanthan knows is that he doesn't want his son to be discovered and/or hurt. Because he's afraid that people will see Clark as Homelander.
