That and also the fact that many younger people are refusing to make babies for whatever reasons. I chose not to bring children into the world because A. Our population is too high and we need fewer children. And B. There are countless children with no access to food, healthcare, and other needs. We need to look after the mouths already here, not bring in more mouths. Plus, this could be a sign of bigger progress then expected. For example, the Black Plague cut the population of Europe nearly in half. But ironically, those who survived reaped the benefits because manpower was scarce, and local farmers found they were in a state to call the shots. Peasants began to refuse to fulfill their duties, demand unions, and began to be paid in cash. Some even built their own farms and estates. The Black Plague brought about the end of the Medieval Feudal society. Maybe this can bring an end to the capitalist/commercialism society we've lived in, and bring about a new one.
