Poor American families have lesser choices of school because schools are so chronically underfunded many have closed especially in African American neighborhoods and Trump's secretary of education Betsy Devos had a hand in defunding these schools in order to promote charter schools or private schools.   36. I’ll be straight, how a populist like Trump took power is exactly how Hitler took power in Nazi Germany. In the 1920s, the Nazis were a butt of everyone’s joke as was Trump in 2014. Then everyone couldn’t believe it when Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1932 (as many people couldn’t believe it that Trump became POTUS in 2016). Fast forward in 1939 when Nazi Germany attacked Poland and started WWII. Luckily, Trump didn’t attack China and start WWIII but I think he was about to if given a few more years. The American people woke up just in time to vote Trump out of office in 2020. We must work now to safe guard our democracy from future Trumps or other populist demagogue from hijacking our democracy. The only way to do that is to address income inequality as an existential threat to American democracy. China has its own massive problems with income inequality. Because of Trump weakening American democracy, the Chinese were feeling emboldened thinking America is finished. Now that Biden has shown the US is now back in charge in global leadership, you can see their tone softening again (they realize the US isn’t quite as “finished”) as Biden was able to gather a global coalition against China. If the US face China alone (the CCP were counting on it) then the US would lose. However with a global coalition of like minded democratic powers then we can keep China’s ambition to overturn the US led democratic world order in check.

  39. What we need is not a transition to socialism...what we need is regulated capitalism. Excessive capitalism leads to plutocracy. This country do need a paradigm shift because the current existing system doesn't work. Trickle down economics doesn't work because nothing really trickles down. If you gave $2 trillion to the billionaire owners of corporations..the money doesn't trickle down to workers.. it merely goes to the billionaire's offshore bank accounts or stock buyback.
