  9. There are many countries: Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Colombia. These are residencies not citizenships, but as you say you are low income just get a permanent residency and live.

While I am not going to blame an entire generation, since there are some exceptional people ( there always are exceptions to any rule), this is a generation that grew up with the internet, so they think they know everything. Their parents opted out of being disciplinarians and opted out to be friends. By doing this, they have disrupted a social order that has existed for generations. When I first entered my career ( Real Estate) in 1989 I didn't know squat, I relied on experienced other people in my profession to learn and grow from. Today, I'm meeting 24-year old entering into my field and they are so arrogant with nothing to back it up with. But there are some that are exceptional and raised with good family values. I'm from California.

  14. Like some of the other comments here, it is hard to duplicate California weather. Most of the countries including Mexico, have much too heat at the beach, Our beautiful weather here in California, it is 78 degrees at the beach. SJS in Nicaragua is hitting 100 and about 95 in Panama, way too hot! The beautiful part of Chile is in the southern region which has the weather of state of Washington which means it's good for about 5 months of the year. The weather in Mexico is very hot unless you are at high elevations, which means one is not at the beach, so not a comparison at all. Likely Portugal is the best choice, but it is a higher tax location.

When I lived in Italy, it was interesting that even the smallest city had something cultural to offer, one didn't need to live in Rome or Florence. Being from California, I was raised with decent weather, so big extremes in climate are not attractive to me. Also, if the future has the potential of food shortages and the like, it is best to be in a country or location where one has easy access to the production of food. Hint: being in a big city is not optimum.

I have heard also that one can set up an International Business Corp for about 5k, then hire yourself and have this corporation pay you $1,000 month and that can be used to establish that you have a job in Panama. Of course, you then would be liable for income tax in Panama.

The reality is most countries are not looking for poor or struggling people, they have enough already of their own citizens. So, depending on the country, they are not looking for immigrants but people to invest into their country and make it better.

I live in California with some of the most indoctrinated people in the world. I try to bring awareness but most are resistant. Very few are red pill people, the majority of the world opt for the blue pill. As Klaus Schwab said, you will own nothing and be happy. This character makes all those James Bond villans look like kids.

  31.  @tommy0814  not easy in Panama. Know of someone who owns a business in Panama, been trying to get a gun permit for close to 10 years, still doesn't have it. In czech republic there are more people there than in the USA, who have concealed carry permits.

But if I was flying in internationally I would not fly into NYC or anywhere in California or DC area. Florida is solidly no mandates. Of course one has to show an antigen test, if one is Mexico they offer these everywhere.

  38. California is not the only destination if one is getting hired by a big tech company. Have clients that just took an amazing position in the state of Washington. There are no personal income taxes or corporate taxes in the state. The real estate market is going crazy there but one can still find more reasonable rentals than in Silicon Valley. Lots of jobs there, great schools. Talked to one of the Realtors I referred my clients to and she said she is working with Buyer who both got their PHDs and were hired by facebook and are buying their first home at 1.2 million, tells one something of the kind of salary they are making.

  42.  @bulldogrocks  Well, if they move to another country and create a business that hires employees from the host country, they aren't taking advantage of a country. I understand that one of the reasons that some Asian countries don't easily allow permanent residency is wanting to keep their independence from China. In looking at countries that have a highly protectionist structure like many Latin American Countries- Panama has a very long list of professions that one has to be a citizen to hold- expats that create companies help stimulate the economy.

  43. There were so many right offs back then. My mom was an accountant back in that era and some of the things that people had as deductions were creative to say the least. Many celebrities in the 1950's-1970;s had race horses which were a huge tax shelter. Also, people would also have a work of "art" appraised at some outrageous amount, then donate it to a non profit and then be able to write off the value. When Reagan came in , many of these deductions disappeared.

  45. @Rui Lima Thanks for your comment. For me being part of the Eu has more downsides than upsides since I' have always been self employed. Central Portugal seems to have reasonable real estate but I imagine economic activities are limited. Since I'm self employed as long as I have internet connection, I can live anywhere. Following some sites on FB, there is definitely some push back from the local population against come of the global digital nomads who were attracted to Portugal for reduced taxation for a period of time. My point is the handwriting is on the wall, so not to get too comfortable with being a resident there.

  49.  @sailingtheisleofman77  I would think that might be the case if you are indeed a UK citizen, of course, a good tax attorney in Panama would be best to advise you. Being a US citizen, it is different for us. However, there is nearly 109k exclusion and for the majority of people that is a big tax savings. I'm speaking from a US perspective here. Lots of digital nomads in Panama, so lots of people to connect with and easy access to the rest of the world.
