@eaubert1 That's a pretty big caveat that is not in your original comment! Not sure how many thinking men would consider it a high life to see how poorly their wives/partners or their daughters/sisters would be treated.

@IffyEdem That's only one part of the equation. If you look at my prior comments I detailed them too. High level of vaccination rates too that doesn not speak to personal freedom either.

@Cryptoversity So, Japan you don't pay taxes on your property? What you are saying about the US is not completely true either. I have clients who have owned land that they haven't developed and apart from lower taxes, owe nothing on any other services. If you are going to compare rural Japan, you need to compare to rural US or any other country. I have no trash collection, I can have a private company pick it up for a fee of course, but it is optional. If there is no structure on it, apart from whatever property taxes that I owe, that's it. Yes, if you buy in a gated subdivision there are HOA dues but it has been in every country that I have seen. But that are the rules of the development, not the country.
