  1. Crime is on the upswing there, so don't rely on its reputation from the past. Nearly all durable goods are VERY expensive, so its not just cars. Nearly everything that one buys has to be imported & there is a huge import fee. A man moved down there & bought a ring from the US & his import tax was $7500 for the ring.

  2. You don't need to renounce, just live outside the country, it's not that complicated. Renouncing citizenship for most people is not necessary.
