  1.  Gororoba  In some ways worse. If you sell a property in Hawaii and don't reinvest there, there are big taxes even if you reinvest in another state of the US. Trying to deal with permits etc is worse than California, I know hard to believe. There is a huge welfare culture in Hawaii too, there are very rich who usually own a home there as one of their portfolio properties and locals who are very resentful. Hawaii is best enjoyed as a fly in and stay at a resort and leave not unlike Jamaica
