another thing "stroads" do is block access to lanes going in the direction you want to go. drivers must travel blocks or miles in the WRONG direction to find a place that allows them to turn around. you leave corporate parking lots wanting to turn left. but you're blocked either by a "no turn" sign or a median in the middle of the road preventing your access to the direction you want to go FORCING the driver to travel in the wrong direction to find a way to turn around and go in the direction the driver wants. the problem is multi-faceted. 1) there's too many people and too much traffic. we desperately need global human population control. 2) public transportation is purposely inadequate and ineffecient. this is so auto makers can sell more cars, increase pollution and make more profits. 3) our state and city govts and their "planners" have been hijacked by corporate profiteers. the corporate retaliers make BILLIONS by destroying our infrastructure to increase their profits. they bribe our local, state and federal politicians to do things as THEY DEMAND! wall street cares NOTHING about what's right and beneficial to any neighborhood. all they care about is their profits and altering and reconstructing our roads rakes in billions of tax payer funds. the solution is easy - SOCIALISM! remove the profit motive from our economy, stop rewarding greed and stop letting the elite make all the decisions for humanity.

you have to PAY for parking in most cities. parking is a multi-billion dollar scam. another thing "stroads" do is block access to lanes going in the direction you want to go. drivers must travel blocks or miles in the WRONG direction to find a place that allows them to turn around. you leave corporate parking lots wanting to turn left. but you're blocked either by a "no turn" sign or a median in the middle of the road preventing your access to the direction you want to go FORCING the driver to travel in the wrong direction to find a way to turn around and go in the direction the driver wants. the problem is multi-faceted.

@joergsonnenberger6836 ... all corporations are evil. but some are less evil than others. the european corporate culture still maintains some sense of social responsibility. american corporate culture abandoned society's needs back in the 1870s at the beginning of the "gilded age." and its only gotten worse since then. i've been to europe and germany. it was 40 years ago and i'm still impressed by the infrastucture across europe. the american elite are stuck in the laissez-faire mindset of "might makes right." patriotism and altruism has been replaced with greed and the myth of "american exceptionalism." our ruling elite refuse to adopt any success that's been adopted in other countries. and its resulted in the destruction of the american middle-class which was once the envy of the entire world.

@tanjaeubanks ... nashville is no "small town." it has a city population of over half a million. what it has done is retain the mindset of a small town. there are several large american cities which have retained this mindset and functionability. kansas city, denver, omaha to name a few. your point is well taken. it is possible for cities not to become "unfriendly, filthy." the first priority is to meet the needs of its citizens not to deteriorate into meeting everything demanded by greedy, apathetic global corporations.
