  1. top hats and stove-pipe hats are 2 different styles of hat. those stove-pipe hats are TALL! and the traditional top hat is much shorter. the stove-pipe hat is a variation of the top hat. personally, i think the stove-pipe hat is rather silly looking. but it was perfect for lincoln. an excellent trade mark. you'll notice the hat hitler had in hand in the photo was much shorter than lincoln's hat. i used to wear a tradional top hat. you could buy them at theme parks. i have several pictures of me wearing that hat. but i wouldn't be caught dead in a stove-pipe hat. but it was the stove-pipe hat that became popluar among the rich and powerful of the 19th century. probably due to lincoln's influence. as for the marx bros, harpo wore a traditional top hat and groucho wore tails. i wore tails to my wedding. damned classy. but everyone said i reminded them of groucho. there's no accounting for taste i suppose. thanks for the video.
