  1. there's two types of journalism in a "free" society. under fascism there's only "state" controlled journalism. in a free society there's news-story journalism. and there's pundit-opnion jouranalism. news journalism is supposed to limit its coverage to facts; who, what, when and where. opinion journalism will tell you the "why" with a political slant. sometimes that slant if fair. sometimes its biased. sometimes it contains both truth and exageration. sometimes it can tell you more about a story, say its background and history, than news journalism. sometimes its full of intentional lies, misinformation and propaganda. under capitalism ALL mainstream journalism defends the status quo; the ruling elite and their corporations one way or another, for the most part. and since, under capitalism everything is deemed a failure unless it makes rich people richer, journalism, too, is designed to support capitalism. capitalism corrupts everything it touches. so there's your lesson for today. there'll be a test tomorrow.
