In the cases DeShaney vs. Winnebago and Town of Castle Rock vs. Gonzales, the supreme court has ruled that police agencies are not obligated to provide protection of citizens. In other words, police are well within their rights to pick and choose when to intervene to protect the lives and property of others — even when a threat is apparent. In both of these court cases, clear and repeated threats were made against the safety of children — but government agencies chose to take no action.

@tja3495 ... no, i'm responding to the lead comment that asks - "Why aren’t the parents prosecuting the cops!" its because the supreme court, in the cases i listed above, has determined that police forces, the govt, has no legal obligation to protect the public from anything. if they do so, they do so at their own descretion. the courts are actually saying enforcing the law isn't a requirement of law enforcement. that's what our country has been reduced to. corporations are people and can bribe politicians at will (citizen's united descision) and cops can do as they please.

@randyhilton6629 ... yep. i founded an entire philosophy called "equalism" based partly on that fact. big govt is the result of capitalism not socialism. big govt is used to enforce the will of the ruling elite. it serves no other purpose.

@briangallagher787 ... and the supreme court is the first place we should start withholding their pay. they just lied saying the 2nd amendment protects EVERYONE'S wish to carry guns IN PUBLIC! there's nothing in the 2nd amendment that even gives individuals the right to own a gun. much less to brandish it in public and threaten and intimidate people. this amendment mentions NOTHING about "public carry." this amendment deals ONLY with state stanctioned and regulated militias. there's no debate here. that's what it says. the supreme court now has a fascist majority thanks to traitor trump. and since he's a clear traitor he had NO authority to appoint ANY JUDGES! his judges need to be REMOVED immediately. they were placed there through fraud and deception. CEOs, corporations, politicians, the supreme court and cops have no obligation to follow the law. but YOU and I do? its called a LAWLESS society. where privilege determines who can and cannot ignore the law. isn't capitalism great?

@beatricecallan ... yes, "What do you need a police for then?" why do we continually over fund them and militarize them? our cops today are domestic paramilitary orgs equipped with military weaponry that they don't need and rarely use. this is what "defund the police" is all about. first off, if we spent our tax dollars more wisely we wouldn't even need bigger police forces with bigger weapons to use against us. its called a "police state." the state uses the police to enforce the will of the elite. they're given immunity to do as they please and they ALWAYS use that power against dissent, against human rights and against the poor.
