  25. no, it basically boils down to - the end DOES NOT justify the means. you don't commit crimes to stop crimes. you don't create misery to stop misery. you don't lie to people, exploit them and violate their human rights in pursuit of science or the "greater good." ethics and integrity must always take precedent over all other considerations.

I've yet to hear any doubts about the use of adrenaline, you can often learn much more from people's experiences than from "official" outlets. but, as I see it, this doesn't fall into an ethical issue but an over dependence and reliability on science and medical authority. scientists and doctors are human; not infallible as so many tend to believe. there's a whole bunch of variables here that are completely beyond your control. this "study" is inconclusive, and your superiors were just following what was thought to be true and you were just following your training. medicine is an inexact science. sometimes even the correct treatment still results in death. from the info you've given me I see no ethical violations here by anyone. and I sure don't see you being responsible for the death of anyone. from the available knowledge at the time even those who received that treatment probably would've recommended it for themselves. the only flaw I see is "science's" propensity to claim infallibility and humanity's propensity to accept that claim.
