ALL socialism is democratic. there's no such thing as authoritarian socialism. what happens is one of two things.... 1) a fascist will take over a country claiming to be "socialist" to gain popular support. then after they gain power demonstrate their true fascist intent and initiate the fascist policies they wanted all along. 2) a socialist will gain power only to be corrupted by fascist influences like industrialists or the military, or both. the point is, socialism on a national scale has never been achieved. socialism is the antithesis of fascism. THEY CAN'T CO-EXIST or even resemble one another. socialism is economic democracy and democracy is political socialism. the one can't exist without the other. fascism is political capitalism and capitalism is economic fascism; rule by an authoritarian elite class. the one can't exist without the other.
