i would've been among the first to see inside a nazi concentration camp. as many sadly forget the first to suffer at the hands of nazi brutality in 1933, as a result of hitler's "enabling act," were writers, journalists, publishers, labor leaders, liberals, socialists, nazi political opponents, scholars, educators and even entertainers. the jews, as a targeted group, although always discriminated against, came to the concentration camps later.
also, i never fail to mention that the term "nazi" was an insult invented by the anti-nazi, german press. nazis NEVER used the term themselves. you'll notice in all the speeches and articles by hitler and high ranking nazis they always used the full term "national socialism" never "nazi" or "naziism."
