this is what capitalism is; a bureaucratic mess that is intentionally confusing, non-responsive, a time waster on "hold." secretive, costly and profiteering which is protected by a govt that acts the very same way! with a few exceptions, I've been treated the very same way by EVERY company and govt agency I've ever contacted. just one of the many complaints is when i'm denied pricing info over the phone. this is just one of our consumer rights violated by capitalism on a systemic basis. what good is having consumer rights, or ANY rights, if our govt doesn't fund the enforcement of those rights? our capitalist govt passes laws that protect us all the time but they decline to pass the means of enforcing these laws. THAT'S CAPITALISM! and that's how its supposed to work. it creates the illusion of justice while practicing, in reality, injustice.

+L... I think what eric said is more of a generalization than a stereotype. i'm an American that doesn't fit that generalization but all in all I agree that most Americans are brainwashed to believe that.
