  1. I absolutely despise the colorization of b&w, or sepia tone art. the operative word here is art; which is photos and movies intended to be shown in b&w. I can't think of ANY documentary footage intended to be b&w. b&w film stock was chosen for its lower price not for artistic considerations. but the colors used on set of most hollywood films from the 20's thru the 50's were chosen by color coordinators because of how they photographed in b&w. so unless you have the permission of the filmmakers DON'T colorize b&w movies. but I think its perfectly okay to colorize old family and historical photos and documentary footage.
