  6. i don't live in ireland but what do i know is that both the right and left have been taken over by an extremism, fanaticism and absurdity unprecedented in history. common sense, common restraint and reality has been replaced with positions so absurd and ridiculous as to create social fear and mistrust. both sides embrace intolerance and violence more and more and govts around the world aren't listening or responding to the wishes or problems of their own people. we keep being told we in the "west" live in democracies but i don't see any true democracies anywhere. corporations and the apathetic and greedy rich who own them dictate social policies pitting citizens against each other as they compete for meager and depleting resources. people are frustrated and desperate to regain some control over their lives, communities and countries.
