i'll respond to your first comment. right now we have very small elite, perhaps at 5% or less, that possesses MORE wealth than over HALF the world! and they contribute nothing! they sit on their asses and watch their dividend checks arrive. then they play god with the lives of billions of people and claim their wealth is a reward from god. in other words, your question applies to capitalism NOT socialism.

socialism is as old as humanity itself and is how our species was meant to live. the first city-states introduced elitism with all its privilege, corruption, exploitation and slavery. and the elite have been perpetuating this capitalist system, forcing it on humanity, violating our true nature, ever since.

@AsymmetricalCrimes ... nope. i want to end capitalism not perpetuate it. under capitalism humanity is barely surviving (look at climate change and all the random violence in society), constantly at the mercy of nature (look at homelessness and capitalism's incompetent response to natural disasters) and segregated into tribalistic communities (what do you think nations are and the gangs that control entire neighborhoods.) everything you just listed is the result of the greed, corruption and injustice of capitalism.

what you'er advocating is Keynesian capitalism, not socialism. its a symbiosis of big business and big govt that help's the rich stay rich and in power through offering labor and the lower classes a little better living conditions. while this is indeed better than laissez-faire capitalism its still capitalism full of elitist privilege, corruption and exploitation. it isn't socialism at all.
